WHAT IS ISRAELRAIL?

IsraelRail is a travel company offering trips and tours for train destinations within Israel. Our packages include single-day and multi-day trips across the country by train, combined with self-guided or guided city tours and sometimes even local snacks and food. The country becomes accessible to everyone, from individual travelers to families and small groups alike, without a driver’s licence or the hustle of getting stuck in traffic.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING ISRAELRAIL?

The IsraelRail packages grant access to many places in Israel. It’s an easy, fun, fast and sustainable way for the independent traveler. Also, touring Israel by rail is a unique and authentic way to connect with the locals.

So far, the IsraelRail packages include Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Acre, Bethlehem, Be’er Sheva and the Dead Sea.

Payment is possible with PayPal, Visa, Mastercard and Amex.

WHEN IS THE PAYMENT DUE?

As we run on online payments and bookings we charge the amount while processing the booking online.

ARE THERE ANY DISCOUNTS FOR GROUPS, STUDENTS OR CHILDREN?

This is depending on the product. Please check out the specific product page for % discounts.

IS IT POSSIBLE OR NECESSARY TO PREBOOK OR RESERVE A TRAIN SEAT?

It is for now not possible to pre-book seats, but we hope to be able to offer this in the near future.

DO ISRAELRAIL PACKAGES COME WITH AN ITINERARY?

Yes, the IsraelRail card comes with a travel itinerary packet that includes detailed information about your booked tour as well as a map.

WHEN IS TRAVELLING NOT POSSIBLE?

Trains do not run from friday afternoon until saturday evening, which is due to the Shabbat celebrations. Additionally, the train times vary for holidays.

3. Refunds and Claims

CAN I CLAIM A REFUND?

Any cancellation prior to 48 hours advance of travel date will incur a fee of $10 USD. Upon notice 0-48 hours advance of departure – the trip is non-refundable!

4. Transportation in Israel

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO JERUSALEM FROM TEL AVIV?

The NEW express train between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv is just 34 minutes. For more information, click here

WHAT ARE THE MAIN TRAIN STATIONS IN TEL AVIV?

HaHagana, HaShalom, Savidor Center and Tel Aviv University are the most used train stations in Tel Aviv. Trains to either direction going north and south stop at every station.

WHAT IS A RAV-KAV CARD?

The Rav-Kav card enables you to use public transport within Israel, be it the bus, the light rail or the train. Credit can easily be added onto the card with the Rav-Kav App, at the counter, the vending machine or different kiosks. If you book an IsraelRail package, we will provide you with a Rav-Kav, that is prepared for your trip and valid throughout the working hours of the train for the respective time.

HOW CAN I GET FROM BEN GURION AIRPORT TO TEL AVIV?

During the week from Sunday until Thursday, you can easily take a train from the airport to Tel Aviv, which is very simple and fast. On Fridays, trains run until early afternoon and continue running on Saturday night after Shabbat, which is the same for busses. Train schedules can be found here. Alternatively, taxis and sheruts (shared taxis) can take you to the city, also on Shabbat.

WHICH CURRENCY DO I NEED AND WHERE CAN I GET MY MONEY CHANGED?

The Israelian currency is the New Israli Shekel with the abbreviations ILS, NIS or the symbol ₪. Money can be withdrawn from ATMs or you can use exchange places in most tourist areas, which is usually cheaper than exchanging money abroad. Check your bank’s conditions in advance, because withdrawals can be very expensive. More information can be found on our blog.
