Start your day at the Hahagana train station in Tel Aviv and receive your travel itinerary packet from our IsraelRail representative. Riding along Highway 1 speeding past the morning traffic through the beautiful scenery, you’ll arrive in Jerusalem at the Itzhak Navon Station in just 34 minutes! After a short ride on the local Light Rail, you will be steps away from the famous Jerusalem Old City walls.
Meet your tour guide outside the Jaffa Gate and begin the journey through the 3000-year old history of Jerusalem. Walk along with the stations of the cross, the Via Dolorosa, in the footsteps of Jesus on your way to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Stop at the grave of Adam and the Hill of Golgotha (or Calvary). Explore the Temple Mount, Dome of the Rock, the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Western Wall (Kotel).

Take the train from the Hahagana train station and meet your guide at the Jaffa Gate outside of the Jerusalem Old City walls.
Aim to arrive at Jaffa Gate at 10:50 AM. Your Sandemans tour guide will be holding a red umbrella and the tour will begin at 11:00 AM.
The tour usually finishes within a 10 minute walk from the Jaffa Gate

Arrive at the Jerusalem Itzhak Navon station after a short 34 minute ride. Exit the station and take the Light Rail towards Heil Ha’avir station
Exit at the City Hall station and walk along the Old City walls for – 450m (5 min walk), to Jaffa Gate

The last train leaves from Jerusalem Itzhak Navon Station at 21:30. We recommend arriving 20 minutes early, not to miss the last train!
Arriving back in Tel-Aviv you can exit any station.
We suggest taking the 09:01 AM train arriving in Jerusalem Itzhak Navon train station at about 09:55 AM
Exit the train station and switch to the Jerusalem Light Rail, which runs every 6 minutes.
If you prefer you can also take an earlier train, starting from 08:01 AM. Trains leave the Hahagana train station every 30 minutes.
What to Bring
Please remember to wear comfortable walking shoes, bring a hat to protect against the sun and drink plenty of water in the summer months.
When visiting holy sites you will be asked to cover your shoulders and knees.
Visiting the Temple Mount
There is a strict dress code on the Temple Mount; all visitors must either wear full-length pants or a skirt that covers the ankles and have sleeves up to the elbows. The following items are prohibited on the Temple Mount: Religious objects or political items of any kind, weapons, alcohol, iPads/tablets/eReaders, laptops, selfie-sticks, and tripods.
Any cancellation prior to 48 hours of travel date will incur a fee of $10 USD for the refund procedure.
Upon notice 48 hours advance of departure – the trip is non-refundable!
Unfortunately, the guided tour inside the Old City is not wheelchair accessible.
Train Station Security Checks
Entry to all train stations is subject to a personal baggage check.
Every station entrance is manned by security guards who operate in accordance with Israel Police guidelines and are committed to upholding your dignity and safety during the security check.
Please be aware that lines may develop at the security check stations during peak hours in the morning and afternoon/evening (6:00am-9:00am and 15:00-19:00), so it is important that you arrive sometime prior to your train’s departure.
Heading to Jerusalem for the day before your flight from Ben Gurion International Airport? Take the train from Tel Aviv and leave your luggage in the lockers at the Itzhak Navon station in Jerusalem.
